This question came up after Steve Irwin was killed by the venom of a sting ray. According to reports, stingrays spines emit poisons which can kill many animals and cause great pain to humans. However, few people ever die from such poisoning. Scientists estimate about 30 deaths worldwide in recent years. In Irwin’s case, the sting ray struck him in the heart which was the reason that the blow proved fatal.
