Paper is made from bark which comes from trees. Basic paper-making processes consist of eight steps: debarking, chipping, pulping, bleaching, paper machine, blade coater, supercalendar, and sheet converting. Though the actual production techniques have been modified and perfected over time, and have been made more efficient and cost effective, wood is still the basis of paper making and always has been.
