The Environmental Protection Agency is in charge of cleaning up Brownfields, and it often hires local people to help in the efforts.  Much of the clean-up revolves around removing hazardous chemicals that are contaminating the environment. There are a variety of techniques used do this, depending on the chemical and situation.  A common method is flushing water or air through the ground with machines.
