The word artifact does not necessarily need to describe something that’s ancient. (That’s why it’s not redundant to say that something is an “ancient artifact”). An artifact is simply an object, or relic of humans. I could try to explain it more, but looking at the dictionary definition really helped me understand the difference. Check it out!
