Some forests, like the Amazon, are as old as ten million years. The Amazon River began to flow, and the forest grew strongly around it, surviving, through certain forms of metamorphoses, in spite of Ice Ages.
While the present-day rainforests may have originated as recently as 10 million years ago, there have been rainforests on earth as long as there have been forests and geographic settings providing abundant rain, which is to say on the order of 385 million years.
