How old are most turkeys that we eat?

    Although this depends on the species, brand and type of turkey, but most turkeys are slaughtered between 14 and 25 weeks. This is when they reach maturity and after that much of the food energy they consume goes to maintaining health and sexual reproduction rather than simply growing.
