Approximately 70% of cervical cancer is caused by two strains of HPV. Most HPV will go away on its own, within a time span of approximately two years.
When you talk about HPV you have to remember that there are many strains of the virus. Only a few cause cervical cancer and how often those strains cause cancer really depends on the health of the person and just a little luck.
