In 2009, there was a conference held where French and African leaders meet to call together international aid to fight deforestation. At the conference 5 African leaders and French president Nicolas Sarlpzy discussed how to protect the Congo Basin area. Hope this helps!

The last time that the United Nations dicussed the issue of deforestation was sometime around the start of the last week of March 2010. It’s recognized as a problem still, with the annual amount of deforestation taking out an area of forests the size of Costa Rica, but the rate of deforestation is decreasing and many countries are working to counter the problem. For example, China, India, the United States, and Vietnam combined are planting 7 million hectacres of trees annually.
