In the past century, numerous injurious tsunamis have struck the Pacific Northwest coast–this includes Northern California, Oregon, and Washington. However, these were not local tsunamis–all of them were generated from earthquakes far across the Pacific basin, not near the coast. While tsunamis in the PNW aren’t as common as they are in the far east, at the other end of the Pacific Ocean, they do occur occasionally.
