How often do sea turtles lay eggs?

Sea turtles nest every 2 to 3 years.  However, they can lay between 1 and 9 clutches, or groups, of eggs per season and some species may visit more than one beach per nesting season.  Each clutch can have between 50 and 200 eggs, depending on the turtle species.  These eggs are approximately the size and shape of ping pong balls and have a soft, leathery shell.
