Males sea turtles can mate every year while females only bread every 3 or 4 years. But every year there is a mating season and nesting period.
Sea turtles reach sexual maturity at different ages depending on the species. Hawksbills reproduce at 3 years, loggerheads at 12-30 years, and green sea turtles at 20-50 years. The turtles breed in the water and then the female comes to shore to lay her eggs. Females can lay one to nine groups of eggs in one season, but wait two to three years to breed again.
