Bald eagles are opportunistic feeders, and they do not know when their next meal will arrive. To prevent starvation, bald eagles have an area in their throat called a crop for storing food. If the eagle has a big enough crop with food stored, it can last at least a week without eating. Mostly they eat fish, which comprises roughly 90% of their diet.
