How often can you donate blood?

Hard up for some cash or just want to help your fellow (hu)man(s)? Either way, the regulations in the United States allow people to donate whole blood once every 56 days. However, donating platelets in a process called apheresis only requires a 3-day waiting period between contributions. Now, why don’t you go have a cookie, you look a little pale.

To add to the answer above in any eight week period you can make one blood donation and one platelet donation, or six platelet donations. I usually donate blood three times a year and it is very fun. Plus, you are doing something that is helping other people so it is a win-win situation!
