Tigers breed up to one time a year. Male tigers are ready to breed around 5 years of age and female tigers at 3 1/2 years old to 4 years old. Depending on the climate, tigers are ready to mate year around in tropical environments and in winter months in more temperate settings.
Tigers give birth to 2-6 cubs at a time. They stay with their mother for 2-3 years, learning how to hunt and survive on their own. When the cubs leave, the mother can mate again and have another litter.
