How is nuclear electricity formed?

Nuclear electricity is created when nuclear fission occurs, the spliting of one atom into two.  Nuclear plants utilize the heat generated by nuclear fission, instead of fossil fuels, to pressurize steam that runs a turbine generator.  About 19% of our electricity comes from nuclear power plants.
