How is the Narcissus flower viewed differently by Westerners and Easterners?

Essentially, the main difference is that Westerners tend to view it as a sign of vanity, whereas Easterners view it as a culmination of hard work. The Greek myth of Narcissus, who was so beautiful that he fell in love with his own reflection, and the myth of a hard working Chinese man who eventually became wealthy due to his continued hard work are the two different basis for these beliefs. Now, however, the flower is viewed by a lot of north Europeans as a symbol of good luck.
