It should say right on the can. When you buy cans in California or Michigan, an extra 5 or 10 cents, respectively, is added to the price. When you return the cans to a recycling center, you get that 5 or 10 cents back. If you happen to live near one of those states, you can collect your cans, drive over, and profit from recycling them. However, if you don’t you can collect a bunch of cans, crush them, and sell them to recycling companies as scrap alluminum in other states. The market price is usually around $1 per pound, you’ll have to check to make sure as they are always changing.
