The United States produced about 277,796 metric tons of coarse grain in 2004, which accounted for 43.9% of the world’s coarse grain supply. The yield of more recent crops has been even higher. The U.S. is followed by China and Brazil in production of coarse grain.
As of 2003 numbers, the US was the world leader in corn production, third in wheat and eleventh in rice. You can find out more about the production of these grains worldwide, and look at the number of hectares planted and the average yield in metric tons per hectare at this website http://www.nue.okstate.edu/Crop_Information/World_Wheat_Production.htm
