America consumes a great deal of oil. An article on the University of Omaha website explains that America uses “19.6 million barrels per day, of oil, which is more than 25% of the world’s total.” America thus has a huge negative impact on the world via the emissions that come from its heavy dependence on the world’s oil. The University of Omaha article is included in the citation field below for further information on North American oil consumption.

If the questioner wants North America, beyond the 19.6 million b/d consumed by the USA, then the total is about 23 million barrels per day, which is a bit more than 27% of world consumption.
