How much workday traffic is a result of parents driving their kids to school?

It depends. Some of them would be on the road anyway, because they drop their kids off on the way to work, like my dad always did. A little over half of kids ride the bus (according to the linked site), so about 20 million children are brought to school in a car, where probably 10% are siblings that carpool, so, every school day, there are ~18 million kids across America being driven to school.
