How much wood is wasted in the lumbering process?

According to a recent study done by California Integrated Waste Management Board, 28 % of the solid waste stream is lumber from construction and demolition. Construction in particular creates a large amount of waste as it produces many scraps and unusable pieces of wood. The demolition process is also very harmful to the environment because very little of what is demo-ed can be reused.
