Cap-and-trade is going to affect farmers who cannot afford the permits they can buy from the government that allow them to their pollution so they can produce goods. It will also affect those farmers who don’t get enough free permits from the government. The Wall Street Journal published an article (the first link below) that states, “The reality is that cost estimates for climate legislation are as unreliable as the models predicting climate change.” It is pretty much guaranteed that farmers’ production costs will increase with the cap-and-trade addendum to the Climate Bill, the cost is just unpredictable at this point.
