How much water have Americans saved by using low flow toilets?

The EPA estimates that 4.8 billion gallons of water are flushed down the toilet every day in the US. New low flush toilets use less than 1.6 gallons of water per flush instead of 3.5 or 5 gallons per flush. So if every person in the US used a low flush toilet then there would be one half to one third as much water used.
