How much water does it take to make a hamburger?

One pound of hamburger takes 16 pounds of grain and 2,500 gallons of water. So, if the average weight of a single burger is one-quarter pound, then that burger requires 625 gallons of water (2,500 gallons divided by 4). The water is for raising the grain to feed the cattle and for the cattle to drink. On the other hand, the production of a veggie burgers requires 7 times less water than meat.
