How much water does it take for the ground to be saturated?

It depends on a lot of variables. How recently has it rained? How wet is the ground already? What exactly makes up the ground? Is there plants on this ground to help soak up some water? It can be a very little amount, like in deserts after it has not rained for a while then monsoon season moves in and the ground gets completely saturated after several minutes. Or it could be a rainforest situation in which the ground is almost never completely saturated.

It really depends on the type of soil and especially on the “porosity” of the soil in question.
