How much water does California lose with their aqueduct?

A typical figure for a 336 mile canal is 4.4% evaporation, and the California Aqueduct is 700 miles long.

Another aspect of water loss is leaking from the canal. These can be fixed, as in the attached article, but that can also mean less water goes back into the aquifer, which farmers may also rely on. (See URL links.)
