The Beverage Marketing Corporation estimates that Americans drink over 9 billion gallons of bottled water. That translates into roughly 30 gallons per person.
To further put the amount of water consumed into context, 30 gallons per person would be about the same as each person consuming 228 bottles of water, or about 1 bottle of water every two days. This amount is expected to grow, as different varieties of bottled water become increasingly available and more and more beverage companies enter the market. There is the possibility of decline however, as more consumer become conscious of the environmental impact of plastic water bottles as well as costs and the economy possibly causing an increase in the number of consumers using home filtration systems.
