Elephants can drink 150 liters of water a day, or over 40 gallons. They tend to drink more in captivity than in the wild, because in zoos they are fed mainly dry food rather than live grasses. An elephant can suck 8 liters (2.1 gallons) of water up their trunk at once, then blow it out.
