In terms of wasted paper, one school in New York is reported to have used 28 pounds of paper per student/teacher in one year.  Elementary schools in Santa Cruz, CA conducted a waste audit and found that an average of 30 pounds of waste were produced in only one lunch time.  In a more recent waste audit conducted at Andover High School, “26 bags of trash weighing 416 pounds” were found to be produced over the course of three lunch times.
