The energy released by nuclear bombs is measured in tons. To give a comparison, the bomb dropped on Hiroshima released the quivelent of 15,000 tons of TNT, and the Nagasaki bomb released the equivelent of 20,000 tons of TNT. In scientific terms the bombs released 15 and 20 kilotons or 63 and 84 terajoules of energy.
