In 2008, Starkist (a tuna company) stated that an average of 2.8 pounds of tuna are consumed a year per capita in the United States. This number has not changed drastically in the last decade, 1997’s averages were 3.1 pounds per capita. 2007’s was 2.7 pounds per capita. Tuna continues to be a stable selling product that Americans eat about 3 pounds of each year!
