How much thinner has our ozone layer gotten over the past 50 years?

    According to the article below, the ozone has been decreasing by 4% every decade since the late 70’s. So in this year of 2009, the ozone would have depleted by about 12% since around 1980. The advent of modern conveniences such as the refrigerator, dishwashers and other appliances greatly increased the propulsion of harmful chemicals in the 1950’s and as society became more and more modernized, these chemicals only increased.
