How much sewage do we treat in a year?

The United States has about one million miles of pipes to carry 50 trillion gallons of raw sewage to 20,000 treatment plants each day, which amounts to over 18 thousand trillion gallons of raw sewage each year. And unfortunately, due to crumbling pipes not all of this sewage even makes it to the treatment stage.  Yuck.
