This press release says that by the end of 2009 (close!) all of Seventh Generation’s boxes will be 100% post-consumer recycled cardboard, and by 2010 the company aims to have all its bottles be made with at least 75% post-consumer recycled material.
Well, in early 2011 Seventh Generation barely released their line of packaging with 96% post-consumer recycled content. It’s still a huge feat even if they didn’t make it 100%. Their new packaging is made of resin derived from recyled milk jugs and other plastic bottles. According to one artice, if every household replaced just one virgin plastic 25 oz. bottle of dish iiquid with Seventh Generations 96% PCR bottle, America would save over 8,600,000lbs of plastic and prevent the release of more than 23,500,000 lbs of greenhouse gases.
