How much salt comes out of a gallon of salt water when it gets desalinated?

    Sea water is about 3.5% salt by weight, so 1liter of water weighs 1 kg, and contains about 35g of salt. There are 3.8 liters per gallon so, 3.8 times 35 = 133g or 0.3lbs of salt per gallon.
