Statistics say that one and a half acres of rain forest are lost every second.  The percentage of the planet’s land surface covered by rain forests has already been reduced from 14 percent to 6 percent due to logging operations.  As far as biological loss, it is estimated that 137 species of plant and animals are lost every day.
