Alaska averages just over 53 inches of rain a year. This is one of the highest of all the states in the US.
Precip. varies according to region. The southeastern area can get ~200 inches while the northern coast of the Gulf gets ~150. Precip. decreases to near 60 inches on the southern side, in the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Island sections. The northernmost arctic region receives less than 6 inches annually. Obviously, most of this precipitation is snowfall.
