How much rain comes from the ocean?

Since 70 percent of the earth’s surface is ocean, then most of the rain that falls should come from ocean evaporation. Where it falls depends upon the temperature just above the ocean; where the winds carry the clouds; how mountains, forests and large cities trap the breezes; and the latitudes and seasons. There are too many variables to define an exact number, but it is scientifically agreed that most of our rain and snowfall originates in the ocean.
