While we are still a long way from Back To The Future’s Mr. Fusion, there is a great deal of power to be gained from trash. Although not an optimal use of resources, ther eis a geat deal of power to be gained from out landfilled trash. For example, in Glendale Arizona, a trash power plant is used to power 750 homes, and that is far from the only power plant trying this ambitious experiment. However, the amount of power produced will depend of course on the amount of trash produced, and as more communiteis switch over to recnouraging recycling, hpefully trash will become a commodity like oil, and thus become much more efficient for single home use in things like digesters, which produce natural methane that can be used for home heating, isntead of power.
I hope this helped!
