How much plutonium is left in the earth?

Plutonium does not exist in nature. It is created when the nucleus of Uranium captures one or more neutrons, thus transforming Uranium into Plutonium. Plutonium reserves are based on the amount of Uranium that still exists since Plutonium is an element derived from the transformation of Uranium. As of 1997, there were 4,363,000 tons of Uranium.
