how much paper is used printing newspapers every year?

Annually, 4 billion trees a year are cut down to make paper, or about 35% of the world’s trees (2). However, newspapers often feature much thinner paper than usual. Additionally, 73% of newspapers are recycled or composted (2). Even so, using so much paper is wasteful, one of the reasons why everything is going online these days.
