In 2006, around 44 million tons of paper and cardboard was recycled, which put paper recycling at about a 50% rate. And in 2007, the amount of paper gathered for recycling amounted to over 300 pounds per person! Although that’s a lot of paper being recycled, it’s sad that it’s only 50% of paper used each year. If we move to doing more work online, we can cut this rate down significantly.
According to the EPA, 44 million tons of paper and paperboard were recycled in 2006, about 50 percent. One third of all recyclables collected in the US obtained were paper products. In 2007, the amount of paper recycled equals 360 pounds per person in the US, reported by the American Forest and Paper Association.
