    It depends on the species of tree, the health of the tree, and how densely the trees are clustered.  One statistic suggests that a single mature tree can absorb 48 pounds of carbon dioxide a year, and release oxygen back into the atmosphere enough for 2 human beings.  Another suggests that one healthy tree can produce 260 pounds of oxygen a year, with two enough to provide for a family of four.
