How much of our natural resources have we already used up?

Natural resources can be either renewable or nonrenewable and can cover a wide range of catagories. Renewable resources can be such things as water, fish and game, forrests, or agricultural output. Nonrenewable resources are things like coal, gold, or oil. Some resources, therefore, can never be completely used up.

Some resources are finite, and we are using them at an alarming rate.  Fossil fuels is one of those finite resources, yet scientists can only guess at what is hidden beneath the crust.  Many of the resources humans rely upon are extracted from the earth.  Hidden from view and buried in often dangerous-to-mine locations, it is impossible to tell how much we have used and how much is left undiscovered.
