How much of our current transmission lines would we have to replace if we switched to renewable energy?

Switching to renewable energy should have very little effect on the electrical transmission lines. The major changes will be moving lines from the old power plants to newer, greener ones. Those are the higher-voltage lines you see coming from the major power plants. The vast majority of power lines, however, are the lines distributing the power to the consumers (both businesses, industry, and residences). There is no reason for those lines to change.
