That depends on the type of genetic modification. Certain transgenes — such as BT and Roundup-Ready — are designed to kill any animals/insects that eat them, so their overall purpose are to yield more outcomes than non-transgenic alternatives. However, other GMO’s, such as those with the ‘Terminator’ Gene (Monsanto’s amazing invention to kill crops after just one season) have no bearing on output/yield. As far as I know there are not transgenic genes invented that directly allow crops to produce more.
