How much more energy does a big screen, high-def TV use than an old fashioned TV?

An old fashioned TV (Cathode Ray Tube) actually uses less energy when compared to LCD models and provided your current one is a CRT and working, the greenest thing to do is to keep it, otherwise it’ll create unnecessary waste. However if you are looking for a new TV and are interested in a “green” one, there is a link for energy usage in comparable TVs
