It is expected that the Empire State Building will use 38 percent less energy and save $4.4 million annually as a result of its recent energy efficiency retrofit (compared to 2008 energy usage figures). It is expected to achieve these reductions by implementing a number of energy efficiency solutions, including more efficient lighting, insulation and windows.
