How much more efficient does a product have to be to get the energy star rating?

    Appliances that carry the Energy Star rating are roughly 10-20% more efficient than non-rated ones.

    It depends on the appliance, but Energy STAR-rated products are required to use between 10%-45% less energy than standard products of the same type. The energy savings for lighting are even greater – Energy STAR-qualified light bulbs (specifically LED lighting) uses 75% less energy than standard bulbs.
