According to the National Data Book, administered by the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2008 approximately 19.7% of the net power generation in the United States came from nuclear energy. In the same year, the total revenue of the electric power industry in the United States was $365.4 billion. Although these figures are approximate, it can be estimated that about $71.9 billion (19.7% of $365.4 billion) was spent on electrical power that was generated from nuclear sources in that year.
